U.S. plant record high soybean acres in 2016

The USDA NASS estimates that the nation’s soybean growers have planted a record high 83.7 million acres this year and increased by 1% from last year.

The report shows that benefited from favourable weather conditions, increased or maintained soybean acreage in 18 out of 31 major producing states. In particular area in Kansas, Minnesota and Missouri, soybean growers significantly increased their planted acres, with each state 200,000 or more acres planted this year than last year. The growers expect to harvest 83 million soybean acres this year, if achieved, the output will reach a new high.

U.S. corn growers also benefited from excellent field conditions this year, increasing their acreage from last year by 7% to 94.1 million acres, making it the third highest corn planted acreage since 1944. If achieved, the corn yield will be the third highest acres since 1933.
